That awkward moment when your previous post was about eating healthy but then you post about your awesome experience in Shake Shack. Just me? Oh. Okay.
For all you foodies out there who's ventured out to NYC, many of you will know or at least hear the name Shake Shack in your visits here. This awesome burger joint is probably one of the best burgers I've had so far. Whether it was the hype or the actual food itself, I had a great time eating here.
Of what I heard about this place, their shakes are supposedly the best in town and their burgers are killer.

691 8th Ave, New York, NY, 10036 |
So we walked to the Time Square location because it was closest to us. And as we suspected, it was packed. The line literally started outside the restaurant itself.
Even inside, the people were getting ready to grab tables as soon as anyone stood up. After we finally made our orders, we waited and attempted to find seats. Unfortunately, we weren't fast enough for these other hungry New Yorkers. So my roommate Eli googled "places to sit down and eat" and the closest place we could find was Bryant Park. As soon as we got our meals, we ran. Varvar, another one of my roommates, had issues with his shake. "I'm going to finish this by the time we get there. Everytime I take a sip, I tell myself to stop, then I take another sip." By the time we found our seats, I was 3/4th finished with my shake.
StackShack and Fries with Cheese |
So I ordered the StackShack (cheese burger with fried and breaded mushroom), fries with cheese, and a peanut butter milk shake. The StackShack was amazing (or I was really hungry). It took me no longer than 5 minutes to devour this amazing burger. The mushrooms were bold and complimented the burger. I also liked the crunch it added to the burger. Their "special sauce" was also great. It had the same color of Thousand Island Sauce and was sweet. The cheese was gooey and delicious and the burger wasn't too bad. Overall, I think this burger was excellent. Much better than 5-Guys or any other fast food burger joints out there.
The Fries with Cheese was okay. Really not much special. It's wavy, but that's about it. The cheese didn't help too much as well. I mean it added a layer of flavor but it could've gone without it. The cheese tasted the most artificial actually. It tasted like the cheap kind of cheese that comes with movie nachos. I also didn't like how it was packed in another container, but I think that was because I ordered mine "to go". Overall, the fries with cheese wasn't anything to die for. It isn't something I'd recommend, but it isn't something I'd tell you not to get. Personally, I would've been satisfied with either choice.
Finally, the Peanut Butter Shake. Oh my god. My expectations for this was high and I am happy to tell you that this was an amazing taste. The peanut butter flavor was very subtle but it was there. It wasn't too powerful. I was afraid that it would just be drinkable peanut butter but its texture was perfect. I mean, being a college student, I've had a good amount of Shamrock Shakes from McDonalds, which I think was really good. But this shake is in a league of its own. Overall, this shake is a MUST HAVE in Shake Shack. I was between the Caramel Shake and the Peanut Butter Shake, but my peanut butter craving won this time.
Peanut Butter Shake |
Really, I'd go back just for the shakes.
Big meals, little tables |
This place was a great place to eat. The line was long but the service was quick, the meals arrived in under 10 minutes, and everything tasted great. If you're new to NYC or if you're visiting, this is a place you MUST enjoy a burger in. By the end of this meal, you will have a new set of high standards for fast food burger places.
