As some of you might remember, I visited my dad at Boston during Easter weekend. With this visit, I was able to revisit my favorite place in Boston, Faneuil Hall!

It was amazing to go back. Back in Vancouver, my favorite place in the city is Granville Island, which truly reminded me of Faneuil Hall because of the activities and marketplace.

I remember that Boston was known for their seafood and clam chowder, so I knew I had to try them!

While I was walking around the market, I noticed people walking around with these delicious-looking lobster sandwiches. After searching, I found where the sandwich came from. I went to Boston & Maine Fish Company where they sold all kinds of seafood.

I order the Lobster Roll. It had a roll, fresh lettuce, and tons of lobster and mayonnaise. It was a little expensive, but it was filling and delicious. I had a hard time eating this roll without making a mess. For one thing, it doesn't really fit in your mouth, so you have to slowly eat away the lobster with a fork then attempt to eat it like a sandwich.

Lobster Roll - $15
After walking around for awhile, I saw a young couple sharing a plate of fried seafoods. So I thought to myself, why not?

I found Fisherman's Net where they do all sorts of fried seafoods. I order the Fried Platter. Again a little expensive, but for what I was paying, I got a lot!

With my meal came Faneuil Hall's famous street performers!

This platter had fried fish, shrimp, clams, and oysters! Although unhealthy, everything was delicious! The scallops were juicy and the best part of the dish. Even the simple fries were yummy. I would definitely go back for this (I mean, at least when I'm in Boston).

Fried Seafood Platter - $15.50 (approx.)
I really love Faneuil Hall even though it's as cheesy as Time Square and it's where the tourists go.

I was looking through my computer folders for the pictures of all the restaurants and food spots that I've visited and realized that I completely forgot to post about Park Royal's Taphouse.

Located in The Village in Park Royal (West Vancouver), the Taphouse is a pub that is home to 20 different cold brews on tap.

This is also the home of my girlfriend's new favorite Beef Dip.

Since I only had 9 days in Vancouver, most of it revolved around my mother's wedding. Because of this, I didn't have too much time to see my good friends.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a nice lunch at the Taphouse with Croft, Monet, Q, Olive, and Sydney since the pub grub here is great.

Beef Dip - $16
Sydney, Monet, and I ordered the Beef Dip. It was actually really good! It had crispy onions, cheese, and tender beef on a garlic baguette. In my opinion, anything garlic is amazing. The dip itself was really flavorful as well. This will definitely fill you up.

Bison Burger - $16.5
Olive and Q both ordered the Bison Burger. It's naturally raised BC bison, blueberry caramelized onions, crispy pancetta, and pecan goat cheese. This is more than the basic burger, and to add to that, it's more delicious!

Croft had a salad. I didn't take a picture of his food because in a big group, it's hard to do so.

Overall, it was a nice place to bring a group of friends. Hopefully by Summer time, I get to do this again!

Congratulations to Winnie and Ken Lineham!

The newly wed couple, my mother and Ken, had a beautiful wedding yesterday afternoon in Stanley Park. My girlfriend, my uncle, and I coordinated the wedding at The Teahouse. We had around 54 guests, many of which are people I met for the very first time.

One of the people I met was Thomas, he was in charge of the decisions in the dessert buffet table and the cake. And since I was too busy running around and helping with the celebration, the only pictures I could take were the items on the dessert table.

There was a beautiful stack of rainbow colored macarons. I've always loved macarons growing up and it has been a long time since I've last had them. But after trying these different mixes, I've had cravings for more!

I didn't really try these cupcakes. I took a bit of the ones with the circular icing. It was a carrot cake cupcake! I'm not a fan of carrot cakes, but this was actually pretty good. Not too sweet, but not too bland!

These little bowls had tiramisu inside of them! It was really good! Now, tiramisu is one of my favorite and the cake was really moist and delicious.

Here is the Wedding Cake! It was red velvet. I thought that the only problem was that it was too filling! The icing was so thick and sweet. But personally, I think the best part about were the edible rose petals. Mmm... edible rose petals...

Again, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BRIDE AND GROOM!

The past three nights, I've been accustomed to have dinner at Lonsdale Quay area. First Raglan's, then Burgoo, and now Gusto Di Quattro.

Gusto Di Quattro is my girlfriend's GO TO restaurant. Whether it's birthday or any day of the week, she would never pass up an offer to go to this place. I mean, she's also a little biased because her father has been the manager of Quattro in Whistler Village for as long as she remembers.

Since this is restaurant is between casual and fine dining, it can get a little pricey unless you go when they offer their great deals, which is one of the reasons we went on a Monday night. During these nights, appetizers are $5, pastas are $10, and house wines are $5! That's how you get customers!

We started with Cheesy Garlic Bread. It was definitely cheesy! The tomato sauce was like a marinara-type of sauce. The bread was well seasoned and the cheesy, was well, cheesy. Just a heads up, this appetizer is not a permanent feature on their menu, it is only available during on the Monday/Tuesday special menu with the 10$ pastas and 5$ appetizers/house wines.

First of all, I just want to say that Italian food is not my forté when it comes to knowing what it's suppose to taste like.

I ordered the Linguine Carrettiera. It has tuna, pancetta, mushrooms, and parmesan. It's a pretty simple recipe, but the combination of the few ingredients made for a tasteful Italian dish.

My girlfriend ordered their famous Spaghetti Quattro. This is what she has to say about it:

"Antonio, the owner of Quattro Restaurants, created this dish years ago and now it's the pride and joy of the the four Quattro locations! A spicy dish made for the true Italians at heart, it has been my favorite item on their menu--as well as my absolute favorite food--for years!"

Again, I had the perfect company.

For dessert, we ordered something called the Resurrection. You guys know what a Lava Cake is? It's basically the same thing. It's a molten chocolate lava cake, vanilla bean gelato, and warm chocolate sauce. This was the second time I've had it and this time around, the inside was perfectly made. With just one scoop, the hot chocolate flowed out creating a a delicious pool of fudgy goodness!

On February 11, 2014, I turned 19 years old. Unfortunately, I turned 19 (legal in Vancouver) when I was in New York, which the legal age is 21. So it was really difficult to truly celebrate my birthday drink.

ANYWAYS!

Today was my first day back to Vancouver for Spring Break! Woohoo! I spent it with my lovely girlfriend (Sydney) and my family. It was a a beautiful day out today so I spent most of it outside the house and in Lonsdale Quay area.

Straight to dinner: Sydney and I went to a local Tiki-Style bistro called Raglan's Bistro. And for the first time in my life, I ORDERED MY VERY FIRST ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE IN A PUBLIC RESTAURANT.

15 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC
The whole place is really creatively designed. With tiki decorations all over the place, a little straw hut as a bar, and surfboards as tables, this place was definitely unique. Our server was really helpful and friendly too. The staff was very kind and showed great customer service.

I ordered a margarita to start. To be specific, a Strawberry Kamikaze. Mmm... girly drinks...

Kamikaze - $7.25
This wasn't our first time here, so we went straight to what I know Raglan's for: their poutine. For those who don't know, poutine is a Canadian dish from Québec that is made of french fries, gravy, and cheese curds. From the selection of poutines such as the classic poutine, cheeseburger poutine, and pulled pork poutine, my girlfriend wanted to try the Ancho Chicken Poutine.

Ancho Chicken Poutine - $13, Meaty Nachos - $18

Ancho Chicken Poutine was made of french fries, gravy, cheese curds, grilled chicken, bacon, mozzarella, crispy onions, and chipotle sour cream.

Two words: Absolutely Delicious!

We also order their Meaty Nachos, which had everything nachos had, but with grilled chicken, chorizo, and bacon.

This was good as well.

Overall, this place is a great place to go especially for the Summer time. They have burgers, sandwiches, margaritas, tacos, nachos, poutine, and many other foods that are perfect for those bright and sunny days. I wish we had been seated outside at their patio seating so we could've enjoyed the sun. But if you go to Raglan's Bistro, be sure to order ANY of the poutines. You won't regret it!

It's my roommate's (Josh) birthday weekend and its my mother's wedding in a week and a half. This created the conflict between choosing to go through an intense diet before the wedding or properly celebrating my friend's birthday. Clearly, as the foodie that I am, I chose the food route.

Josh found out, from word of ear, about a place that had Donut Ice Cream Sandwiches. That's right! DONUT ICE CREAM SANDWICHES! It sounded too amazing to pass up. Holey Cream was the place for this.

796 9th Ave, New York, NY (Between 51st and 52nd Streets)
This place was just outside Time Square. We found this place in a quieter part of the neighborhood. This quirky little place would be an amazing place to go to during the Summer time.

The inside of the place was quite basic. A very typical ice cream shop.

Looking at the menu, we were searching for the Donut Ice Cream Sandwich sections, but it was no where in sight.

Still no where... Until one of the employers offered it to us.

So this is how it works:
1) Choose 3 different Ice Cream flavors
2) Choose either Vanilla, Chocolate, or Strawberry for the donut ice cream
3) Finally, Choose a topping

I chose Dulce de Leche, Peanut Butter Crunch, and Moose Tracks Ice Cream. Then I chose the vanilla icing and the classic sprinkles as a topping.

Everything they served was quite fresh. The donut was made right in front of us and the ice cream was delicious. Out of the three flavors of I chose, I thought the best one was Moose Tracks. The vanilla ice cream was smooth and the chocolate chunks were very complimenting. My least favorite ice cream was the Dulce De Leche, I just thought that its consistency was a little too sticky, although it was still delicious.

Overall, this sweet monster was well worth the $8 I spent. It was hard to eat like a sandwich so we approached it with a spoon. This place is definitely a MUST VISIT during Summer in New York City! Yum yum!

What do you do for dinner after the night you just had ramen? Get more Ramen!

Last night my friend, May (WHO RECENTLY GOT CASTED IN "FLOWER DRUM SONG"), was really insisting me to go with her to grab some real, asian ramen after Footloose.

249 E 49 St, NY, New York, 10017
After hours of research of which Ramen shop stays open past midnight, we found Seo Japanese on 49th Street. This cute little Japanese store was quite traditionally decorated. When you enter that back room, you're given a beautiful view of a Japanese garden with bamboo and . The atmosphere inside this place made it feel like you weren't in New York anymore.

Edamame - $4
We ordered the classic Edamame. There's not much to review about this item. Most edamame are almost identical, so this one was good.

Shio Ramen - $9.50
I ordered a Shio Ramen, which was a salt-based ramen. The broth was good, a little bit watery, but it was good. I was really craving a miso-based type ramen but the menu was literally so small, they only offered 3 types of ramen. Their drink menu was larger than their actual menu.

The noodles were similar to the ones in Hinata Ramen. There was a lot more than I expected. It was also not one of the softer kinds of noodles, which has been a pattern in New York ramen places so far.

The chasu was excellent but tiny! It was soooo fatty! The fattier the better (when it comes to chasu)! I like how the edges were slightly burnt and added a greater seasoned flavor.

My friend, May, ordered the Shoyu. To be honest, I was kind of jealous, her's tasted better. Other than the more flavorful broth, everything was basically the same.

Overall, Seo Japanese has great ramen for much cheaper than Hinata Ramen, but their choices were incredibly limited. Hinata had at least 6 ramens to choose from and Seo had only 3. Their appetizers weren't too appealing either. From choices from cold tofu to pork on rice, there wasn't really anything that caught my eye. Although this was their only flaw, the ramen was great.

"Although the food was good, the company could've been better."

In almost every country in the world, you can find a McDonalds. In the Philippines, you can get a McChicken or a McSpaghetti. In Canada, there's McPoutine. But my all time favorite unique McDonalds country specialty is USA's Shamrock Shake.

Medium Shamrock Shake
I'm in love with milkshakes and this is one of my favorite. I don't care if it's McDonalds, I don't care if it's less than $4, this minty drink is amazing. This thing is so sweet that drinking it is like a dream. This vanilla based shake has a subtle mint syrup that gives it its green color. Topped with whip cream, this is a great, cheap reward for treating myself after a long night backstage.

The only flaw that I have with this is that it is seasonal. It usually comes out from February to March (WHICH IS NOT ENOUGH TIME!). But other than that... Mmm... minty vanilla shake.

It kills me to say this, but I had no time to at all to eat anything great. I've been so busy that I haven't been able to post for the longest time! Since now that I've found time between classes to make this post, I'm going to use it to tell you exactly what I've been so caught up with.

As some of you may know, I was given the opportunity to become part of the Wardrobe Run Crew in an off-stage production of Footloose. I've learned how to make things like scrunchies, bandanas, and THIS AWESOME BOW TIE THAT I GET TO KEEP!

The hours for this thing are crazy. I feel like I've been living at the school. I was literally working from 9AM-1120PM from last Saturday and 9AM-8PM yesterday. Then until March 10, I'll be at school from 6PM-11PM. All that, plus auditions, call backs, and hours of papers. Goodbye social life.

I have literally been living off of protein bars, hard boiled eggs, and a skimmed triple cappuccino. Not-so-foodie-friendly food. I just want an nice, juicy burger.

In other news, all these awesome things I've ordered from Amazon have finally arrived! Though I go home so late every night that the mail room is always closed when I try to grab my packages. Life is hard. Very hard.

Also, you guys should definitely follow my Twitter account! @VancFoodie -- There I post little things food-related in my life.

Anyways, I have 5-minutes till class starts so I'm going to sign out. Next time, hopefully I can show you some new, delicious food places, foodie!

I'm a big fan of pizza. I am also a big fan of poutine (A Canadian dish. Basically fries, cheese curds, and gravy). But why is it only now I have heard of this amazing Pizza Hut pizza?!

I don't want to sound like a Pizza Hut Ad, but this gooey-looking pizza truly brings out my Canadian spirit and foodie. Why wouldn't you want fries, gravy, beef, and cheese curds on your pizza?

When I go back to Vancouver this coming March, I am DEFINITELY going to have to buy one of these. Just looking at it makes my mouth water.

So what do I think about this pizza?

First of all, Pizza Hut is the only chain pizza that serves this unique Canadian twist on pizza. I mean, I'm sure the advertising images look 100x more attractive then the actual served dish itself, but to me that's not the point. I don't expect too much decoration from chain places like this, but it's the taste of it. I have yet to taste this pizza, but hopefully it's everything I expect: a tomato sauced pizza mixed with gravy, cheese, and french fry crunchiness.

Unfortunately, this good-looking pizza is only sold in Canadian Pizza Hut. Perks of living in Canada. But honestly, I can't wait to get my hands on this greasy pie. Now I really can't wait to go back home.

"And I don't cook, either. Not as long as they still deliver pizza."

That awkward moment when your previous post was about eating healthy but then you post about your awesome experience in Shake Shack. Just me? Oh. Okay.

For all you foodies out there who's ventured out to NYC, many of you will know or at least hear the name Shake Shack in your visits here. This awesome burger joint is probably one of the best burgers I've had so far. Whether it was the hype or the actual food itself, I had a great time eating here.

Of what I heard about this place, their shakes are supposedly the best in town and their burgers are killer.

691 8th Ave, New York, NY, 10036
So we walked to the Time Square location because it was closest to us. And as we suspected, it was packed. The line literally started outside the restaurant itself.

Even inside, the people were getting ready to grab tables as soon as anyone stood up. After we finally made our orders, we waited and attempted to find seats. Unfortunately, we weren't fast enough for these other hungry New Yorkers. So my roommate Eli googled "places to sit down and eat" and the closest place we could find was Bryant Park. As soon as we got our meals, we ran. Varvar, another one of my roommates, had issues with his shake. "I'm going to finish this by the time we get there. Everytime I take a sip, I tell myself to stop, then I take another sip." By the time we found our seats, I was 3/4th finished with my shake.

StackShack and Fries with Cheese
So I ordered the StackShack (cheese burger with fried and breaded mushroom), fries with cheese, and a peanut butter milk shake. The StackShack was amazing (or I was really hungry). It took me no longer than 5 minutes to devour this amazing burger. The mushrooms were bold and complimented the burger. I also liked the crunch it added to the burger. Their "special sauce" was also great. It had the same color of Thousand Island Sauce and was sweet. The cheese was gooey and delicious and the burger wasn't too bad. Overall, I think this burger was excellent. Much better than 5-Guys or any other fast food burger joints out there.

The Fries with Cheese was okay. Really not much special. It's wavy, but that's about it. The cheese didn't help too much as well. I mean it added a layer of flavor but it could've gone without it. The cheese tasted the most artificial actually. It tasted like the cheap kind of cheese that comes with movie nachos. I also didn't like how it was packed in another container, but I think that was because I ordered mine "to go". Overall, the fries with cheese wasn't anything to die for. It isn't something I'd recommend, but it isn't something I'd tell you not to get. Personally, I would've been satisfied with either choice.

Finally, the Peanut Butter Shake. Oh my god. My expectations for this was high and I am happy to tell you that this was an amazing taste. The peanut butter flavor was very subtle but it was there. It wasn't too powerful. I was afraid that it would just be drinkable peanut butter but its texture was perfect. I mean, being a college student, I've had a good amount of Shamrock Shakes from McDonalds, which I think was really good. But this shake is in a league of its own. Overall, this shake is a MUST HAVE  in Shake Shack. I was between the Caramel Shake and the Peanut Butter Shake, but my peanut butter craving won this time.

Peanut Butter Shake
Really, I'd go back just for the shakes.

Big meals, little tables
This place was a great place to eat. The line was long but the service was quick, the meals arrived in under 10 minutes, and everything tasted great. If you're new to NYC or if you're visiting, this is a place you MUST enjoy a burger in. By the end of this meal, you will have a new set of high standards for fast food burger places.

Started things off fresh today. I know you guys could care less about my wanna try and eat healthy thing and would rather see a bacon cheese burger. The fact that I don't want to be a 600lbs boyfriend and not have 6 rolls for my mom's wedding means that I have to replace some meals for a healthy, green shake.

647 Lexington Avenue (Lexington Ave. between 55th St & 56th St), New York, NY, 10022
Thank god for Juicy Cube. If you're Canadian like me, you'd know places like Jugo Juice or Booster Juice. It's basically the sourness and bold tastes of Booster Juice with the thickness of Jugo Juice. It's all made with real fruit, which is nothing too fancy, but great for my health.

This actually what I ordered. I mean how healthy can you get if you order a drink called "Greenlicious"?

The place itself is actually very health aware. They sell a lot of protein bars, vegetable chips, kale chips, and even fresh coconuts.

And the menu doesn't just have vegetable shakes, but shakes you guys would probably enjoy!

I've been to this exact juice bar about five times now. Unfortunately, this time around I forgot to order Vanilla Whey Protein in my drink to add sweetness and protein (which was a terrible idea because it meant that I could taste the "healthiness"). Usually it's much sweeter with the extra protein. This is also helpful because I usually workout at 8PM before class and pick one of these up on the way to campus.

So if by chance you guys go there, I recommend you order a Greenlicious + Vanilla Protein Whey. It'll cost you under $10.

For those who missed out on my last update, Fantasy Friday is where I talk about fictional food from video games, movies, and TV shows that I am interested in trying. Now, welcome to my first post for FANTASY FRIDAY!

Let me get this straight: the mash up of Disney and Final Fantasy to create Kingdom Hearts was pure genius. A game full of action with a compelling story that involved epic moments from famous Disney characters, there is nothing more a geek like me could ask for. Seriously, you fight side by side with Donald Duck who's a wizard and Goofy who's a knight. Did I mention Mickey Mouse has a sword? You even fight along side Hercules, Aladdin, and even TRON! I mean, this game was basically your childhood turned badass.

When I played Kingdom Hearts II, I noticed that among Axel, Xion, and Roxas (one of our protagonists), that when things get stressful they go up to the roof of a building in Twilight Town and eat this strange, blue ice cream called Sea Salt Ice Cream.

Axel (left), Roxas (middle), Xion (right)
This ice cream was described to be sweet and salty in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Its blue color comes from its resemblance to the sea (Duh, "Sea" Salt Ice Cream). Apparently, the director of Kingdom Hearts II, Tetsuya Nomura, had this ice cream when he visited the Tokyo Disneyland Resort and liked it so much that he put them in his games.
Sea Salt Ice Cream
Personally, the reason why I took so much interested in this cold treat was because it was Axel and Roxas' favorite snack. In fact, Kingdom Hearts has a HUGE selection of consumable ice creams to choose from. And when I say huge, I mean HUUUGEEEE!!!

This is a few of the vast selection
Yes, many of those ice creams look a 1000x more delicious than the Sea Salt Ice Cream itself. But as a gamer, you must understand to look past its bold and detailed designs and look at the originals. The Sea Salt Ice Cream is the face of ice creams in the Kingdom Heart series. It's become so famous that it has its own fanbase. Yes, a fanbase for fictional ice cream. It sounds crazy, but many gamers like me share the same feeling for this iconic ice cream.

Many have made recipes...

and even parodies!

As you can see, this fantasy ice cream had a great impact in the gaming community. Even writing about it for this blog is giving me the sweet tooth. Great, now I'm hungry for ice cream.
I hope you enjoyed Fantasy Friday and stay tuned for more to come!

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner? I'd have avocado any day. A lot of people think, "Avocados? No way! That stuff is full of fat and that'll get me fat blah blah." The truth is... Okay, you got me. Avocados DO have fat. But what you have to realize that not ALL fat is bad for your body. Most of an avocado's calories come from monounsaturated fat, which is considered to be healthy for you. This healthy fat actually lowers your risks of stroke, heart disease, and cancer! It also helps your body absorb nutrients and eases regulation of bodily functions. Not only do avocados contain healthy fat, but it comes with loads of fiber and vitamins!

BOOM! KNOWLEDGE! (Didn't expect that from foodie did ya?)

AAAANNYWAAYSS... *casual transition*

Since I didn't have much food left in the fridge and food delivery stops at 730PM at La Baguette, a diner where they accept our dining dollars, I had to be resourceful.

So what did I have left? Avocados, toast, eggs, and bread. Enough to make this beauty.

Both healthy and delicious, this fiber-loaded treat is very easy to make.

Ingredients:
-1 egg
-1 slice of bread
-1 avocado
-Butter, oil, or PAM(since I'm in college...) for frying
-Olive oil
-Salt and Pepper

Steps:
  1. Toast bread
  2. Heat butter/oil/PAM on high heat.
  3. Crack egg into pan
  4. Cut avocado in half, remove pit, remove skin, dice, mash with olive oil in a bowl until spreadable (if you like it chunky keep it chunkier).
  5. Spread avocado mash on toast. Top with fried egg. Season with salt and pepper to your desire.

BOOM! DONE!

Health Tips & A Recipe. You're welcome, foodies. The best part about this meal: the runny yolk. I'm trying to keep it healthy this week because this weekend, I'm hitting up NYC's Famous "Shake Shack." with my roommates. Mmm... Burgers... Fries... Excessive amounts of oil...

Hello once again foodies! I hope you are all doing well! I haven't been posting much this week because of the workload I received from my classes. Not only that, but also this afternoon, my roommates discovered that we had bed bugs in our dorm! That means we have to put every single fabric (shirts, rugs, beddings, etc) in a plastic bag and put them all in the dryer after the pest control visits us tomorrow morning.

With all this hanging on my shoulder, I've been living off protein bars and triple grande cappuccinos. Life has been a bit bitter lately.

That's a Quest Bar, by the way. It's the most amazing protein bar I've ever had.
On the up side, I am announcing a new weekly addition called Fantasy Friday! As some of you may know, I am, what one may call, a "geek". Yes, I love video games. Yes, I love super heroes. But more importantly, I love food. That is why I am incorporating these two aspects of my life and creating Fantasy Friday!

8-bit deliciousness
Fantasy Friday is where I discuss fictional foods I REALLY want to try from video games, movies, television series, and more! As a foodie, I venture towards searching for the best kinds of things to eat. I take that step to a whole other level(up) and compare these fictional foods to possible dishes and maybe even provide a recipe. Not only that, I'm also going to be giving you, the hungry viewer, a brief history lesson on these pixelated goodness! Be excited for this Friday to fill your life bars with all kinds of geeky food INT!
